Gloomy Bear was born in the mind of Japanese artist Mori Chack. He is an abandoned little bear, and is rescued by Pitty (a little boy). At first, he is cute and cuddly, but becomes more wild as he grows up. Since bears do not become attached to people like dogs by nature, Gloomy attacks Pitty even though he is the owner. So Gloomy sometimes has blood on him from biting and/or scratching Pitty.
Gloomy Bear has an enormous and growing merchandise line, hugely popular in Japan, it's now infiltrating Europe and the US too.
