(Hymenochirus Boettgeri) ![]() ADF's are the perfect beginner frog for anyone. They are reasonably easy to care for and are completely aquatic. They can be kept in certain community tanks (careful consideration paid to tankmates), but they are best kept in a species-only tank. Their tank size should be from 2 US gallons upwards. The average size of an ADF is around 2 inches. Do not keep these guys in a tank with a powerful filter, they take air from the surface and when babies can get stuck to the intake! Make sure their tank is secure with a lid, they're good escape artists. As for feeding, they won't take fish flakes, they're best fed on bloodworm (frozen or live). Be careful not to confuse these guys with African Clawed Frogs!! ACFs grow much larger, around 5-8inches and if put in with ADFs will eat them too! Here's a site on how to tell the difference: click.
